In much of China, Europe and North America this is the actual coldest period of the year — colder than the solstice. The fourth Earth month, and the point where winter habits either hold or collapse.
The three micro-seasons
Every term divides into three pentads of about five days.
- Geese head north
- Magpies build nests
- Pheasants call
What to do in these fifteen days
- Protect the routine you built in December. Do not add anything new.
- Check on one person who lives alone. These are the fifteen days that matter for it.
- Keep the morning light habit even though it feels pointless. It is not.
